South and Eastern Madison County including New Hope, Owens Cross Roads, Gurley, and Hampton Cove.
The Commission adopted new district boundaries at the January 19, 2022 Commission Meeting. These new boundaries of the six Madison County Commission districts went into effect in November 2024.
BIOGRAPHY
Commissioner Hill is a native and lifelong resident of Madison County. He and his wife, Karen Hillis Hill, have been married 22 years and have two sons, Hudson and Cason. They reside in the New Hope community, where Craig served 3 terms on the New Hope City Council. Craig is a second-generation public servant, the son of the late Mayor Nolan and Linda Hill, and has one brother, Harrel. During his tenure, Craig secured funding for a new senior center and doctor’s office, worked to secure land for a community storm shelter, replaced antiquated bridges, and oversaw the purchase of the city’s first trash truck and vector control equipment. Craig also served as the council liaison to New Hope’s branch of the Huntsville Madison County Library.
Commissioner Hill was first elected as District Three Commissioner in November 2016 and is currently serving his third term. During his time as District Three Commissioner, Craig has secured funding for School Resource Officers in Madison County Schools, built two new Recreation Centers along with 2 new baseball fields and 2 new soccer fields to help promote youth athletics, improved the car rider line at Central School, helped fund COVE Universal Playground, secured funding for 2 new storm shelters, and paved more road miles in District Three than in any other four year period. Other significant projects include the bridge replacement and widening of Old Highway 431, widening and resurfacing of Ryland Pike, the Jordan Road extension, Old Big Cove Road bridge widening, guardrail installation and resurfacing of Maysville Road, Hobbs Island Road improvements, repair subgrade and resurface Little Cove Road, project to secure slope failure on Keel Mountain Road with total cost of $1,871,844.00, a one million dollar safety improvement along Dug Hill Road, as well as McMullen Road Improvements.
Commissioner Hill has served as President and Vice-President of the Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments (TARCOG) and on the TARCOG Board of Directors for 11 years. Craig holds a B.A. in Math from Athens State University and an M.A in Educational Administration from Jacksonville State University. Craig began his career as an Algebra teacher and basketball coach at Madison County High School. Coach Hill is a retired administrator with the Madison County School System. Craig, Karen, Hudson and Cason are members of the Owens Cross Roads Church of Christ.
