Madison County Public Works manages all house numbering and addressing in unincorporated Madison County. A house number/address is required to obtain a building permit for a residential or commercial structure. 

Requirements to obtain a new address:

  • Proof of property ownership (recorded deed)
  • Minimum of 30’ access to an existing county road through ownership or recorded easement
  • $25 fee paid by cash or check (payable to Madison County Commission)

Request a New Address:

Email the following information to housenumbering@madisoncountyal.gov

Note: There is a $25 fee to establish a new address. This fee can be paid by cash or check.

  • Name of Property Owner or Business
  • Property PIN (from Madison County Tax Assessor) or aerial map view with location noted
  • Subdivision name and lot number (if applicable)
  • Road name
  • Nearby address or intersection
  • Type of structure to be addressed (i.e. house, mobile home, business, sign, barn)

Request an Address Verification:

Email the following information to housenumbering@madisoncountyal.gov

  • Full address to be verified, including any Unit/Suite designations
  • Name of Property Owner or Business Name
  • Property PIN (from Madison County Tax Assessor) or aerial map view with location noted
  • Subdivision name and lot number (if applicable)
