Mark Craig has served as the License Director of Madison County since 2001 and was re-elected in 2002, 2008, 2014 and 2020. Under his leadership, the department has implemented significant improvements to both the office and daily operations.

In 2021, the License Department moved its operations to the new Madison County Service Center at the corner of Memorial Parkway and Oakwood Avenue. This location allows for a more pleasant and efficient experience for the citizens of Madison County. Over the past decade, the department has increased staff by 20+ employees. These improvements demonstrate the department’s commitment, ensuring that every interaction, whether in person, by phone or online, is as productive as possible.

Mark Craig, a lifelong Madison County resident and graduate of New Hope High School, earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration with a major in Accounting from the University of Alabama. He is the son of former Madison County Commissioner Jerry Craig and Marion “Little Bit” Jones. Mark is married to Lakely Felten and has two children, Bridges and Benton.

Before becoming License Director, Mark worked as an accountant in the Tax Collector’s office and was actively involved in local politics, campaigning for 18 years and serving as Campaign Coordinator for his father’s re-election. He has completed numerous courses through the Association of Tax Administrators and Laws.

As License Director, Mark prioritizes an open-door policy, accountability, equality and delivering the best possible service to Madison County residents.
