Who We Are
Our diverse, dynamic workforce is made up of more than a thousand people providing a vast array of services that benefit everyone who lives, works or does business in Madison County.
We keep Madison County healthy and safe and act as advocates for our most vulnerable citizens. We design, build and maintain bridges, roads, buildings and other structures. We uphold justice and protect victims’ rights. We enforce the law and operate correctional facilities for adults and youth. We process marriage licenses, provide assessment, and taxation services, and manage animal control operations.
In short, we provide the services necessary to create and maintain a safe, healthy and vibrant community.
At the top of our organizational chart are the citizens of Madison County. We work for you. Elected officials take a lead role in county management. Six area-specific commissioners and the Commission Chairman, Dale Strong, makes up our Board of County Commissioners.
A vast network of directors and managers oversees the day-to-day operations, long-term planning and strategic vision for the county’s individual departments, divisions and work units.

With respect to new hires, the E-Verify process is completed in conjunction with a new hire's completion of the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification upon commencement of employment. E-Verify is not used as a tool to pre-screen candidates.

Drug Free Workplace
Madison County is committed to protecting the safety, health and wellbeing of all employees and other individuals in our workplace. We recognize that alcohol abuse and drug use pose a significant threat to our goals. We have established a drug-free workplace program that balances our respect for individuals with the need to maintain an alcohol and drug-free environment.
It is the policy of Madison County that all new staff employees have certain credentials and criminal and other background information verified as a condition of employment.
